Why Kid’s First

We have loved caring for the sweet children in the Layton area for over 23 years now! The love and concern we have as a center is like no other! We are a small facility where we are able to put each child’s needs FIRST! The experience we have helps us to maintain a great place for children to grow and learn while being cared for in a loving way. We have many years of additional training and have had opportunities for being a part of multiple grants throughout the years. It has greatly benefited our center and improved the care we provide. It has also helped make it available to purchase great new equipment for the children to enjoy. We strive to employ the best possible care givers that love what they are doing and either have their CDA or higher credentials in childcare or are on the path to achieving those requirements. We believe in constant improvement and are always striving to be our best!

We have completed the baby steps, toddler, two years old, and preschool grants. These have included one on one training and equipment in each of these classes. This has also provided a great resource for learning with the creative curriculum which we are able to provide on a daily basis. We strive to be current on all child development standards and work hand in hand with the state and the ever increasing standards that they hold. We are excited to share our education and training with all the children in our care!

Infant and Toddler Program

“Play is our brains favorite way to learn”

-Diane Acherman

We specialize in infants, toddlers and early childhood. This means we put added attention and training towards the ages of infant to preschool. We believe these early years truly are the most important years. We strive to make sure all our babies and children are cared for with more than just their basic needs, but with individual care and concern. We make sure they feel love and care while learning many great and important things as they grow and develop. They learn to engage in social and learning opportunities with our Creative Curriculum program, planned activities, and freedom to learn by play.

Preschool and Kindergarten

“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.”

-Kay Redfield Jamison

We love to help the preschool and kindergarten children in our care to learn and develop very important social and cognitive skills. We strive to have an environment where children can connect with other children and instill healthy relationships. We work with the children in our care with the exciting learning opportunities that are available in our Creative Curriculum program. We also provided opportunities to sit together at meal time in a family style serving pattern. This is a great opportunity for children to learn healthy eating and good social skills. We encourage children to learn by play which includes opportunities for creativity and problem solving. We believe here at Kid’s First that it is a child’s full time job to play!

School Age

“Play builds the kind of free-and-easy, try-it-out, do-it-yourself character that our future needs.”

-James L. Hymes, Jr.

We absolutely love the energy and excitement that the school age children in our care bring. We care for school age sibling of the younger children at our center. We provide before and after school care, transportation to and from school, and care on days out of school. We make sure to create an interactive fun experience with field trips that correspond with the Creative curriculum program that they are participating in. We love to continue to care for the children as they grow up with us! We provide care up to the age of 10 years old, with the exception of the needs of our families.

About the Owner

Hi, my name is Kristin Guymon. I am the owner of Kid’s First Child Care Center. I have had the privilege of owning, and for many years directing, Kid’s First. I have a love for children and have many years of experience and training in child development. One of the biggest things we offer as a center is our experience of over 23 years! I take pride in my wonderful teachers and staff here at Kid’s First. The biggest compliment we ever receive is that each child is known by name, personality, and as an individual. Because we are a small center every child truly matters! I love being able to provide wonderful care to all the children that attend Kid’s First and I look forward to many more years to come.
